Kathmandu, September 15
The main opposition CPN-UML said on Thursday it is closely watching Prime Minister Prachanda’s visit to India.

The standing committee meeting of the party held on Thursday concluded that PM Prachanda chose a wrong time to visit the southern neighbour. The meeting that took place at party office in Dhumbarahi stressed that the visiting PM should not engage in acts that are not in the interest of the country and the people.

There was no need for PM to embark on a visit to India barely one and a half months after government formation. We are not expecting much from this prime ministerial visit, UML secretary Pradip Gyawali said, adding: There was no need (for the PM) to embark on a visit to India barely one and a half months after government formation.

The visit has already begun, so we want the PM not to conduct himself in ways that harm the country.

The meeting that took place days before the start of the party’s central committee meeting stressed the need to conduct a nationwide campaign for implementation of the Constitution after holding elections.
