2016-09-17_1931_001Sep 17, 2016- Thirty-seven people have been safely rescued after a boat capsized in the Koshi River on Saturday. 
Locals informed that the boat carried passengers more than its capacity due to a large number of people visiting the haat bazaar at Prakashpur.
The boat heading towards Prakashpur-5, Rajabasa from Srilanka tapu (Island) has turned turtle on Saturday.
The boat had the capacity to hold up to 45 people. Superintendent of Police Poshraj Pokharel said that the total number of passengers on the boat is yet to be ascertained. ’Twenty-two people have been rescued. However, the information about the number of passengers on the boat is yet to come. We are investigating,’ Pokharel said.
Nepal Police, Nepal Army and the Armed Police Force have been deployed for the rescue operation.
The boat had capsized in Koshi River at 12:30pm today.
