Aug 17, 2016- Representatives of Nepali Congress (NC) student wing Nepal Students’ Union (NSU) were busy casting their votes at the party headquarters in Sanepa, Lalitpur on Wednesday.
Even though polls were scheduled to begin from 7am, the voting process began around 1pm.  Electronic voting machines are being used to cast and count the ballots.
Of the expected over 3000 votes, about 1,000 votes were cast by 6:30pm. According to the party election committee, voting is expected to continue until midnight and results should be available by Thursday morning. There are seven president, five general secretary and six treasurer aspirants. Among others, Nain Singh Mahar and Manoj Acharya are two main contenders battling for leadership.



This is the first NSU convention since the 2007 unification of the NC faction led by incumbent President Sher Bahadur Deuba with the mother party, then headed by late Girija Prasad Koirala. After a gap of nearly 10 years, the 11th general convention of the NSU kicked off on August 4.
